Test Chlorine Level: Recommended chlorine level for swimming pools and spas: 1.2~1.7ppm. 1. Place the stick at your "adjustment point." 2. Leave the samples in the water. PH Level: Recommended pH level for pools and spas: 7.2~7.8. 1. With the samples in the water, turn the wheel all the way to "pH" until it clicks (the battery must be off to read pH). 2. Wait for the needle residue to settle on the pH reading. 3. Gently remove samples and insert into the holder on the side of the tester for storage. Usage: Before using this tester for the first time, you must calibrate it to your swimming pool or spa in the following order: 1. Test your pool or spa with a traditional liquid test kit. 2. Record the required chlorine reading level. 3. The pH value does not need to be adjusted. How to find the adjustment point for the chlorine test: 1. Insert 1 x 1.5V AA battery into the handle compartment. 2. Hold the tester in one hand and the probe in the other. 3. Insert the washed metal probe into the water until the black band is reached. 4. Gently stir the water with the probe. 5. Turn the tester's surface wheel all the way to the left in the key direction while the probe is still in the water. Slowly turn the wheel to the right until the needle matches the amount of chlorine you recorded with a standard liquid tester (e.g., 1.5ppm). 6. Remove the probe from the water without touching the wheel. The indicator will move to the right all the way and stop at a letter between A and E. This letter is your setting point.
