Malus 'Red Sentinel', Red Ornamental Apple, cross-pollinator, Height approx. 60-70cm - 5L pot

The Malus 'Red Sentinel' is one of the most beautiful ornamental apples for the garden and is known for its abundant flowering and striking fruit. In spring, around April and May, an exuberant blossom of white flowers appears, opening from soft pink buds. This bloom immediately gives the tree a fresh and lively appearance. The Red Sentinel is highly suitable as a cross-pollinator for other apple trees; additionally, this variety is self-pollinating. After flowering, numerous small, glossy red ornamental apples develop, which appear in late summer and often remain on the tree well into winter. This not only provides a long-lasting decorative effect in the garden but also makes the fruit highly suitable for use in floral arrangements and autumn or winter decorations. Due to its compact growth, the Malus 'Red Sentinel' is very suitable for smaller gardens, but also as a solitary tree in a border or as an ornamental addition to a fruit garden. This ornamental apple grows best in a sunny to semi-shaded location and is undemanding regarding the soil, as long as it is well-drained and nutritious. The tree is easy to prune and therefore simple to keep in shape. Pruning is best done in early spring, removing dead, diseased, or crossing branches. For optimal growth and strong development, use high-quality planting soil when planting and fertilize annually with organic grower's fertilizer.
